Negotiating A Commercial Lease Can Be Overwhelming.

I Help Make It Simple.

Opening and operating a small business is a unique challenge and, as the owner of that business, your ability to secure the right real estate on beneficial terms is vital to your success.

That is where I come in - I focus my practice on representing tenants (and landlords too occasionally) in commercial leasing/purchasing matters. My goal is simple - to make the process as smooth for you as is possible by providing cost-effective solutions to real world business problems with expertise and transparency. I’ll help you understand your deal and negotiate on your behalf so that you can achieve the growth you desire.

Although my practice is focused on leasing and purchasing/selling real estate, I also provide experienced counsel on matters involving new/renewing franchise agreements and buying or selling businesses. In all instances, I am here to help guide you through the process.

Services - How I Can Help You

  • Real Estate Lease/P&S Agreements

Whether you are a franchisee of a large franchised system or an independent business owner, there may be no agreement more important than your lease (or, if you are buying, your purchase and sale agreement).

Tenants often assume they have little or no bargaining power when it comes to real estate. That is simply not true. Let me work with you to negotiate a beneficial lease/purchase agreement that provides you with the flexibility and protections you need to thrive. With over 25 years of experience negotiating retail leases and purchase and sale agreements, I am uniquely positioned to guide you through the process - from LOI to execution/closing.

Every business has unique real estate needs so don’t go it alone. I am here to help you get your deal done - and done correctly.

  • Franchise Agreements

Franchise agreements are complex legal documents which are often difficult to fully understand.

With over 17 years working for one of the world’s largest franchise organizations, I know the pain points that often frustrate franchisees. I am happy to review your franchise agreement in a way that will help you gain comfort with the terms and conditions in the document. And, should we identify any significant concerns, I will work with you and your franchisor to modify the agreement in a way that best protects your interests.

If you have any concerns about your franchise agreement or if you simply want to better understand your rights and obligations, let’s chat. I can help.

  • Buying and Selling a Business

Do you want to buy a small business, a franchise or grow your network? Maybe you are ready to retire and hand over the reigns to your children or sell to another buyer. In either case, I can help.

I have years of experience assisting clients with the purchase and sale of their retail businesses. I can counsel you on the structure of your deal, the performance of due diligence, and the drafting and negotiating of the documents. In every instance, I will take the time to understand your specific needs and desires and - only then - create documents that address your needs.

I am here to help you from initial interest to closing.

  • Dispute Resolution

Things don’t always go as planned. Whether it’s a landlord-tenant dispute, a franchisor-franchisee dispute, or a disagreement with a vendor or contractor, I have years of experience helping clients resolve those issues quickly and efficiently so as to avoid costly litigation.

My Fees Are Fixed

My approach to billing is simple - for me and for you. Once you and I understand your needs and concerns, we’ll agree on our approach and I’ll provide you with a fixed fee for the services you have asked me to provide.

No hourly billing.

No worries about excessive fees.

No surprises.

Just an up-front price that we both agree makes sense.

(If you prefer hourly billing, we can certainly accommodate your request)

About This Firm

My goal in founding this firm was simple: To provide cost-effective, individualized, and easy-to-understand legal counsel to my clients so they could focus on growing their businesses.

On a personal level, my career started in public accounting after which I turned to law school and the practice of real estate, franchising, and corporate law. Since graduating, I’ve been fortunate to work in-house as an attorney in increasingly complex roles with three industry-leading organizations in three fascinating industries. Now, I am applying the business concepts and legal learnings I’ve absorbed over the years to help my clients successfully start and grow their businesses.

When I am not eyeball deep into my work, I love spending time with my wife and four daughters skiing, camping, watching college football, and exercising our newfound love for travel.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!
